KUCHING: A lorry laden with sawn timber meant to be smuggled into West Kalimantan was seized by members of the Malaysian Armed Forces at Kampung Stass, Bau on Friday.
A statement from the First Malaysian Infantry Division said the seizure was made by personnel of the 11th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment following some 10 hours of surveillance at the border village.
The army managed to detain a lorry fully loaded with sawn timber valued over RM115,000 and arrested six Indonesian nationals.
The suspects and the seized items were brought to the Bau police district headquarters for further action.
