KUCHING: Police here arrested two men on suspicion of operating an entertainment centre without valid licence yesterday.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that the raid was carried out around 1am at Jalan Tabuan Tranquility.

“During the operation, the team managed to detain two locals who were the manager and caretaker of the premises.

“An investigation paper has been opened under Section 5 (1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000 for failing to produce a business or entertainment centre license,” he said.

The Sections provides for a jail term of up to five years or a fine up to RM20,000 or both at once, if convicted.

Ahsmon added that the Kuching Magistrate Court had approved the suspects’ remand application for four days until May 1.

Both suspects are currently placed in Kuching police lock-up for further investigation.
