KOTA SAMARAHAN: Construction of Phase One of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Blue Line special route in Kota Samarahan is progressing well as planned, with operations expected to commence by the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to a TVS report, Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd’s chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa said they would ensure that construction of the route and physical structures was completed within the agreed timeline.

Mazli speaks to reporters during the Road Safety Awareness Campaign at Kampung Plaie.

He was also optimistic that the ART project would enhance the state’s logistics and connectivity, particularly ahead of large-scale events such as the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which Malaysia would host in 2027.

“We will fully support and align with the Sarawak government’s decisions.

“If the state hosts the 2027 SEA Games, we will ensure that we (Sarawak Metro) are ready to assist in any way possible,” he said when met during the Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Kampung Plaie today (Oct 24).

The 27.6 km-long Blue Line, worth RM64.3 million, will connect Depo Rembus directly to Hikmah Exchange, providing a congestion-free alternative for commuters and reducing transportation costs.
