KUCHING: The conditional movement control order (CMCO) has forced Dayak artistes to cancel their stage performances to entertain their fans in the state and thus, lose their sources of income.
This leads them to look for other sources of income during the CMCO.
These artistes include Sima Tawil, 30, who has been in the business of selling hand sanitiser online and delivering it directly to customers over the past few weeks.
“In addition to replacing the lost income due to the cancellation of the stage shows, I also sell hand sanitisers to go out to meet fans because I’ve missed them,” said Sima, who works as an Iban news anchor at a leading media agency in the state.
Sima revealed she was able to sell an average of 10 bottles of hand sanitiser daily to fans and residents of the city since she started doing business.
“Besides fans, many who have bought hand sanitisers from me include owners of food premises around the city,” she said.
She said food premises in the city were flooded with customers including those who went shopping for various Gawai Dayak necessities.
“Currently, I am selling hand sanitisers at between RM18.50 and RM30.00 a bottle,” she said.
