SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Mandarin and the Lions Club of Sibu Bawang Assan collaboratively hosted a grand ceremony at Tung Hua Secondary School yesterday for the “Youth Peace Poster Contest” and “Spectacles Donation.”
This event not only highlighted the Lions Clubs’ commitment to nurturing young artists but also underscored their dedication to safeguarding students’ vision health.
To amplify the event’s significance, both clubs extended a special invitation to Lions International District 308-A2 2nd Vice Governor, Datuk Jimmy Tie Hien Hwa.
He graced the ceremony, presented awards to the victorious students, and presided over the spectacles donation ceremony.
Tie emphasised that the peace poster contest not only fostered youth creativity but also enriched their comprehension of global peace.
Moreover, he mentioned that the provided spectacles were distributed to six underprivileged students.
He mentioned that the recipients and their families conveyed appreciation to the Lions Clubs for their kindness.
Tie stated, “The two Lions Clubs will persist in their mission to serve the community and are committed to organising more impactful initiatives to aid those in need.”
Present at the event were SMK Tung Hua’s principal, Goi Nguok Yew, the president of the Lions Club of Sibu Bawang Assan, Chieng Sii Chuo, and the organising chairperson, Siow Kok Ping.
In the Youth Peace Poster Contest, Nur Alya Allyissa Rosland emerged as the champion, with Lene Yat Yu Jie securing the second position, and Sandra Wong Jing Yee finishing third. Additionally, five other participants received consolation prizes: Josslyn Toh Ching Qí, Loi Yuan Ting, Charis Ngei Zhu Chi, Samuel Ting Ming Zhi, and David Ngieng Sheng Yang
