KUCHING: Asaroz Terawan Mulu return to Sarawak Regatta 2024 after 17 years.
The Asaroz Terawan Mulu team made a triumphant return to the Sarawak Regatta 2024, marking their first participation since 2007.
Team Manager Onesimus Mugang expressed excitement as his team took to the waters at the Kuching Waterfront on Friday.
“We have been training diligently for the past three to four months, and today is the day we’ve all been waiting for.
Our team is ready, and we aim to make a strong impression,” Onesimus said.
On the first day of the regatta, Onesimus noted that their performance was promising but acknowledged the need for minor adjustments.
“Overall, it has been quite impressive.
We are optimistic about improving in the upcoming events,” he added.
The team, primarily comprised paddlers from the Berawan-Tering ethnic group, reflects a strong sense of community, with most members hailing from the same village, Long Terawan Mulu.
They are joined by participants from other ethnic groups, including the Penans.
“We hope our paddlers can excel and deliver their best at this year’s regatta,” Onesimus said, embodying the spirit of teamwork and cultural pride at this celebrated event.
