KUCHING: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (ASPIRASI) is looking forward to discussing with Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak to form a united opposition front in facing the 15th General Election (GE 15).
They are waiting for DAP Sarawak to invite them for further discussion on the matter, said party president Lina Soo.
“We cannot comment for now. Wait for DAP to invite us any time soon. But of course, we look forward to their invitation,” she told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted.
Soo was prompted for comments on news reports saying that DAP Sarawak and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) will start their first round of negotiation today (Tuesday) for a united front in preparation for the upcoming GE 15.
For another political entity, namely Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak, it told Malay Mail that it was not involved in negotiations between its Pakatan Harapan (PH) partner DAP and PSB to form a united front in preparation for the coming GE15.
Its acting chairman Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh said that the party has not received any invitation to join the discussion.
“Maybe they want to form a new pact… since we are not invited, it should be purely between the two parties,” he said, adding that he had no idea whether the state PKR would be invited to participate in negotiations in future.
“If they really want to unite the opposition parties in Sarawak, then all the opposition parties should be invited to attend the negotiation to form a united front,” he pointed out.
