KUCHING: People should converse in Bahasa Malaysia wherever they are, be it at the office, school or while interacting with friends.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said there are many positive benefits in doing so among the diverse community in Malaysia.
“The use of this language while communicating with each other shows that our love for Malaysia is truly strong,” he said.
“The language can also be a unity tool in this country, from there, tolerance, consensus and respect can be created among the diverse community,” he said.
He said this at a prize giving event in conjunction with the National Language and English Language Month 2023 at Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 here on Monday (April 17).
Yap also said that the language played a role as a language of knowledge and information in the globalisation era.
Students of Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 participated in various programmes such as public speaking, news reading, storytelling in conjunction with the National Language and English Language Month.
