BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming commended the efforts of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including religious groups, for their welfare and charity initiatives.
Pang noted that these initiatives play a vital role in alleviating the struggles of the needy and less fortunate.
“I am both excited and grateful for every piece of charity aid directed towards the needy, helping them pave the way for a better future,” he said at the 2023 Charity Golf Open Championship’s prize-giving ceremony, held at the Golf Club in conjunction with the Bintulu Division Methodist Church’s Annual Conference recently.
He was pleased that, despite economic uncertainties, such charity events continue to yield positive results.
“What matters is the selfless nature of these activities, bringing immense blessings to the organizers. The act of giving, indeed more noble than receiving, is crucial for improving the lives of those in need,” he added.
Pang also hoped for increased participation from more NGOs, private companies, and industry stakeholders in organising similar charitable events.
At the event, two religious organisations, Methodist Bintulu Social Concerns and the Methodist Community Service Centre, each received RM15,000 from the tournament’s proceeds.
