ADAM Yii Siew Sang (GPS-Pujut) expressed strong support for Sarawak’s unprecedented budget, highlighting its strategic allocations aimed at driving sustainable development, enhancing rural infrastructure, and supporting educational and economic growth across the state.
He described Budget 2025 as a strategic, future-focused plan that positions Sarawak to achieve high-income status through diversified growth and skill development. He expressed full support for the budget, calling it a “bold and forward-thinking plan” that will improve the quality of life for every Sarawakian.
“Let us work together to bring these ambitious goals to life for the benefit of our beloved Bumi Kenyalang,” he concluded, extending holiday wishes to those in attendance.
The assemblyman began by congratulating Sarawak’s Premier for tabling a record-breaking budget that projects a surplus of RM486 million.
This financial strategy, according to the assemblyman, is a testament to the state government’s fiscal prudence and commitment to both immediate needs and future stability.
“To Sarawakians, this surplus means we are receiving critical investments today while safeguarding financial security for the future,” he said during his debate in support of the Supply Bill 2025 today (Nov 15).
Meanwhile, during his debate, he mentioned that a significant portion of Budget 2025, totalling RM6.8 billion or 62 per cent of the development fund, is allocated for rural development.
He stressed that this budgetary focus aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, funding essential upgrades to roads, water supply, and electricity.
“This commitment ensures that rural families enjoy improved living standards and are included in Sarawak’s growing prosperity,” he said.
The assemblyman also praised the new Sustainable Development Financing Scheme, which supports Sarawak’s green economy ambitions.
This initiative, he added, along with various Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) loans and grants, is expected to attract investments into green industries, fostering a competitive and innovation-driven business environment in the state.
