KAPIT: Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang paid a working visit to Rumah Bujah Bejau at Kaki Wong Pelagus, Rajang River here to attend a ‘four-in-one’ programme recently.
Nyabong officiated at the completion of new tiles at the longhouse verandah, inspected an on-going alternative electricity supply ‘Solar Penal Energy’ project, attended a ‘civics assembly’ and handed over a letter of appointment to TR Bujah.
Speaking at the civics assembly, Nyabong explained to the longhouse folks on the state government’s new initiative to survey Native Customary Rights (NCR) land.
He said the new initiative was adopted to speed up survey on NCR lands.
“First, the lands are surveyed under Section 6 for communal title and then followed by Section 18 for issuance of individual land title. With the land titles issued under Section 18, no one could encroach or take away your land. The advantages to have titled land are landowners could apply for government assistances to open up their lands for commercial cultivation” said Nyabong.
Among those present at the function were a political secretary to the chief minister, Nicholas Kudi Jantai and local community leaders.
