KUCHING: The Sarawak Dayak Doctorate Degree Holders Association (SDDDHA) extends heartfelt congratulations to former Bukit Mas MP Datuk Mutang Tagal on his appointment as the 20th president of the Dewan Negara.
Dr Ambrose Dango, the association’s protem secretary-general, stressed the significance of this appointment, considering it a landmark in Malaysian politics that reflects the spirit of inclusivity highlighted by the Madani government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim since November 24, 2022.
Ambrose also expressed appreciation for Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and his party, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), for recommending the first Dayak from the Lun Bawang tribe to hold such a high-profile position in the nation’s government.
“It goes to show that Sarawak, under Abang Johari, is slowly opening up to be more inclusive in governance, maintaining its status as a model of good inter-ethnic relations and the spirit of multi-ethnic sharing,” Ambrose stated.
The association recognises the immense trust and responsibility placed on Mutang in the realm of politics and governance during Malaysia’s post-normal period, extending their best wishes for his success in this new role.
