SIBU:  The quest to honour and remember Sacred Heart Secondary School’s highly respected and beloved former principal the late Reverend Brother Albinus O’Flaherty will go on.

Former students gave a thunderous and resounding “aye” at the Sacred Heart School Old Students Association’s (Shosa) annual general meeting on Saturday when a resolution was passed to support effort in remembering the principal who touched the lives of so many former students.

Thousands have benefited from his work academically, but more importantly, in their development as well-rounded persons steeped in strong moral values.
His dedication is hard to match, his contributions immeasurable.
Shosa has listed a series of activities such as naming a road here after Brother Albinus to organising an annual run, sporting or academic event in his memory and the members were asked to vote on them. As expected, the
proposal came with a roar of approval from the more than 800 members present.

With a science lab and a rugby tournament named after him, former students have been clamouring for a more prominent to remember their beloved principal by.

Efforts have been in earnest over the last three years to name a road after him, and recently Shosa took it all the way to the top authorities in Sarawak in a heartfelt appeal for help.
Former students were also called upon to protect the school from ageing and decay by contributing to its upkeep.

Shosa president Yong King Sung said the re-development of Sacred Heart Secondary School in 2002 came at a hefty price tag due to the massive works and poor soil condition.
