KUCHING: The Association of the Boards of Management of Aided Chinese Primary Schools in Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian will commemorate its 40th anniversary on October 1 with a grand dinner at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.
Themed “40 Years of Dedication, Passing the Torch,” the event will feature 150 tables and celebrate the association’s long standing contributions to Chinese education.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian are expected to grace the event. Other notable figures, along with board members from various member schools, will also attend.
The evening will include a 24 Festive Drums performance by Chung Hua Primary School No. 3 students, along with cultural performances showcasing local traditions.
The celebration will coincide with Confucius’ birthday and honour teachers for their dedication to Chinese education.
“The association has been instrumental in safeguarding Chinese education in Sarawak, ensuring that no Chinese primary school has been shut down.
“In recent years, they relocated three schools—SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang, SJK Chung Hua Bako, and SJK (C) Kai Nang—that were facing closure due to low enrollment,” said the association in a statement.
Tickets for the dinner are available for purchase, and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information, contact the secretariat at 082-421021 or email kch.sama.chinese@gmail.com.
