KUCHING: The Association of Sarawak Chinese Academic Research (ASCAR) presented a copy of its ‘Romance of Maw San’, a historical book on the Twelve Kongsi and Bau’s mining history, to the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) headquarters yesterday (Oct 18).
Represented by ASCAR chairperson Dr Julitta Lim Shau Hua, a book titled ‘A Collection of Artefacts Contributed by the Former Overseas Volunteer Mechanics Who Served in the Resistance War Against the Japanese, 1939-1945’ was also presented to Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
The chairperson expressed her appreciation to Dr Sim for his association’s funding.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Sim for his encouragement and financial support of the association over the years,” she said.
Temenggong Datuk Tan Joo Phoi also received a book as a token of appreciation for his donation towards the association.
