SRI AMAN: A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Pencil Project Association has succeeded in raising the standard of child education in the interiors here while alleviating the burden of low and middle income families.

According to the association’s patron Norina Umoi Utot, it started its Pencil project to help rural pupils here in 2015. Under the project, pupils from poor families are provided with schooling aid.

“We succeeded in implementing this Pencil project in Sri Aman since four years ago, and hence we have received many invitations to give motivation talks in longhouses and schools here especially during the school holiday season,” she said during the association’s activity at Augustine Bunto Bakong Ai’s longhouse here yesterday.

“During such sessions, we would provide 2B pencils to pupils in the longhouses,” Norina said.

She explained that their goal was to ensure that all children would receive the best education regardless they come from poor or rich families.
