KUCHING: Sarawak E-Sports Association (Sesa) targets five skilled and smart youths to represent Sarawak at international level.

Sesa President Afiq Fadhli Narawi stated that the e-sports competition was held starting from Asajaya in order to recruit new talent for the sport.

“We are now looking for new talents in Batu Kawa through the FIFA 21 (PS4) Competition and listing out their names.

“We are targeting around 20 potential youths in esports so that they are able to compete outside Sarawak,” he said during the FIFA 21 E-Sports Competition (PS4) at the Batu Kawa Unity Hall today.

According to Afiq, these potential young people would be trained at D-Virtual Park Kota Samarahan.

“Currently we are using the PS4 because the PS5 has yet to arrive. The winner of this competition will receive a cash price of RM250, runner-up RM150 and third place RM100 along with trophies.

“There are a total of 68 youths participating in this competition and they consist of 22 years old and below,” he added.

“Our next target is to expand the competition to Lundu and Serian along with commencing the esports introduction programme to rural areas,” he said.
