BINTULU: The Bintulu Tourism Association will work closely with the tourism industry players in the division towards ensuring sustainable, holistic and dynamic tourism industry in this industrial town.
Its chairman Ismawi Ishak said this was because of the tourism industry is one of the contributors in the country’s economic sector and the association will also work closely with other relevant agencies towards realising the goal.
He noted there were many unexplored tourism locations in Bintulu which could be developed as cultural and heritage tourism attractions.
“We hope Bintulu can be developed into a hub for international corporate events as there are many international companies operating in Bintulu like Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas),” he said in a press conference on Saturday (Mar 20).
Ismawi added that this would have positive impact on the local socio-economy.
He said the association would continue to target international tourism activities such as the kite festival to be held in Bintulu.
Ismawi also invited the public especially the youths in Bintulu to register as tour volunteers. Those interested can contact the Bintulu Travel Secretariat through the association.
