KUCHING: Astana Negeri staff members planted flowers and trees around the compound in celebration of Arbour Day 2020, here on Monday (Dec 14).
The programme started from 6am to 12pm and was led by Datuk Mustapa Han, who is the senior private secretary to the Head of State.
Mustapa expressed his happiness and appreciation to staff members for participating in the programme as planting trees and flowers require a lot of work.
However, he believes it will benefit the overall appearance and environment of the compound.
He also holds a lot of significance in Arbour Day in relation to Astana, a much beloved place of work for Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud.
Arbour Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees.
