KUALA LUMPUR: Nothing beats the experience of watching your favourite movies or TV series on a big screen at home. That is what Astro wants to bring with the all-new Astro Ultra Box. Astro Group chief executive officer Henry Tan said, “We are on a journey of continuous improvement to provide our customers with a better experience.
“Today marks another milestone as the Ultra Box takes entertainment to a new level,” he pointed out at the Astro Ultra Box launching ceremony at Sunway Pyramid on Wednesday.
He explained that the Ultra Box is timely to meet the growing demand for 4K ultra high definition (UHD) viewing.
“Additionally, commercial establishments in the hospitality, retail, and food and beverage (F&B) sectors will welcome the opportunity to offer patrons live sports and other content in 4K UHD.” With the rise of streaming services which allows viewers to access content whenever and wherever they want, the Ultra Box boasts various features to bring an enhanced viewing experience.
One of them is the ‘Astro Cloud Recording’, which allows customers to record multiple shows at the same time and store them in a ‘cloud’ which can be accessed on multiple devices at anytime.
Another feature is the ‘Play from Start’ feature which gives customers the ability to click the restart button to watch a show from the beginning and is especially useful if customers tune in into a show midway or when it’s just about to end.
In addition, the ‘Discover and Stream Video On Demand (VOD)’ feature is able to bring over 50,000 movies and shows just by connecting the Ultra Box to the Internet.
There is also a new home screen to make content discovery easier, with a search feature that simplifies the process of searching movies, TV shows, live content, and recordings by allowing customers to search by title, cast, director and even channels.
As for those who are always on the go, the ‘Multi-screen’ and ‘Stop Here, Continue There’ let customers pick up where they left off on their favourite movies and shows on any device. Existing customers with a monthly pack subscription of RM100 and above can upgrade for free, whereas those who pay less than RM100 a month have to pay an installation fee of RM199.
As for new customers, they have to pay RM99 if they subscribe to a monthly pack of RM100 and above, and RM199 for a monthly pack of below RM100.
