Athletes from Kuala Rajang to get sponsorship

 BELAWAI: Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh will sponsor athletes from Kuala Rajang constituency who are selected to represent Sarawak in various sports competitions.

The Kuala Rajang assemblyman said he hoped that in the future, Tanjung Manis would emerge as a key centre for traditional archery.

“Therefore, I will support participants from the constituency selected to represent the state in any sports events.

“God willing, with the enthusiastic response from the participants, Tanjung Manis will one day become a renowned centre for traditional archery that the local community can be proud of,” he said.

He said this during the opening ceremony of the Tanjung Manis Zone Traditional Archery Festival held at SMK Belawai football field.

Commenting on the festival, he expressed his strong support and welcomed the organisation of the event, which saw over 80 participants.

“I believe that this sport can be elevated to a major event due to the strong support from its fans,” he said.

He added the inaugural festival held in the Tanjung Manis Zone organised by Dsofwah Traditional Archery Club has attracted many participants from Sibu, Bintulu, Sarikei, Spaoh, and Tanjung Manis.

“Our goal is to establish this festival as a grand event in Sarawak and eventually integrate this sport into the Malaysia Games (SUKMA). Efforts will be made to achieve this,” he said.

He also called upon the DSofwah Traditional Archery Club to continue to organise such activities as they can enhance skills and teamwork.
