KUCHING: The Sarawak’s Para Sukma athletes showed their prowess on the third day of the athletics event by winning several medals at the Sarawak Stadium here today.
Sarawak’s Para Sukma contingent Chef De Mission, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam believes that the athletes can bring home more gold medals.
“We believe the athletes competing today will contribute gold medals for Sarawak,” he said, while watching the athletes competing.
Stealing the spotlight was javelin thrower Jamal Nasir Zulkiplis, who successfully won the gold medal in the F55 category with a throw of 21.09 metres, setting a new championship record.
Another standout athlete, Filemon Lirong Dionisus, won the gold medal in the men’s 200 metres (T11) with the fastest time of 26.65 seconds.
Additionally, Norsazwani Maisara Marzuki excelled by contributing a gold medal in the women’s 200 metres (T37) with a fastest time of 37.70 seconds.
Nur Farhani Kudus also made her mark by winning the gold medal in the women’s 200 metres (T46/T47) with a fastest time of 30.94 seconds.
Meanwhile, several silver medals were won by Sarawak’s athletes Norizalina Kasim in the women’s discus throw (F37) with a best throw of 12.48 metres, Mary Anak Bada in the women’s javelin throw (F40) with a best throw of 10.89 metres, and Coroline Sijang in the women’s javelin throw (F41) with her best distance of 09.32 metres.
Bronze medals were contributed by Noor Zaidah Dahlan in the women’s javelin throw (F40) with a best throw of 10.19 metres, and Nur Rohaidatul Syuhada Yunus in the women’s javelin throw (F41) with a best throw of 08.47 metres.
