KUCHING: Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s act of continuously “attacking” Sarawak is seen as a strategy to cover up weaknesses and failures of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth deputy chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said that the strategy was also to cover up the unfulfilled promises made by Democratic Action Party (DAP) for Sarawak during the GE14.
“His attack is also to cover his weakness as Finance Minister after cutting allocation to Sarawak and cancelling three bridge projects in Sarawak,” he said yesterday.
Yesterday, Lim said Sarawak government still owed the federal government about RM40 million, adding that Sarawak’s motive of issuing false allegation was its preparation for the state election in two years.
The Tupong assemblyman said it was Lim who was covering up the Pakatan Harapan government’s failures after its actions sparked anger among the people of Sarawak.
“The new Malaysia described by Lim is very sad. He is not only unprofessional, but also immature in his responsibilities as a federal minister,” Fazzrudin said.
He stressed that political polemics must be set aside when it involved the interest of Sarawak.
“Tourism, Arts, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah only raised the issue with the federal government ; so by mentioning the issues, is he directly labelled as trying to put the federal government down?” he asked.
“Isn’t the new Malaysia open to reprimand and freedom of speech? He was supposed to handle every issue professionally, rather than continuing to criticise Sarawak,” Fazzrudin pointed out.
“Lim does not understand what he is trying to say and the Sarawak Chief Minister’s office has already confirmed that Sarawak has a good record and has no outstanding arrears in loan repayment.
“If the Finance Minister is unclear about the status of debt, that means he is not eligible to become one. Even if he knows it, makes an issue of it just to mock the state government, it means he does not even qualify to be the Finance Minister,” stressed the Tupong assemblyman.
