Two locals get busted by a GOF 10th Battalion team for attempting to smuggle in goods from Indonesia into Sarawak.

LUBOK ANTU: The General Operations Force (GOF) foiled a smuggling attempt by two local men last Monday morning (Dec 14).

The incident happened around 6.30am when a team from the 10th Battalion in Sibu, were carrying out patrols at Jalan Ensawang.

During the patrol, they spotted a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle coming from the Indonesian border into Malaysia.

“The vehicle was inspected and it led to the finding of two locals who were attempting to smuggle in eight sacks of freshwater catfish (ikan patin and ikan tapah) to Sarawak.

“For such actions, the team seized the goods worth RM10,000 along with the vehicle worth RM50,000,” a spokesperson said.

Both the seizures and the men were taken to Lubok Antu police station for further actions.
