KUCHING: The training programme for hydroponics, fertigation and composting techniques today was given a boost with the attendance of the Premier of Sarawak’s wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.

It was organised by the Association of Ministers’ Wives and Wives of  Assistant Ministers (Sabati).

Held at the Sarawak Agricultural Institute, Semenggok, the programme was jointly organised with the Semenggok Agricultural Research Centre, led by the Environment Sub-Committee chairman who is also a member of Sabati, Datin Melinda Claudia Bucking.

Juma’ani and the Sabati delegation were also briefed during the programme by the Crop Development and Research Division Head of Semenggok Research Centre Dr Maclin Dayod on the development, progress, updates and challenges of crop projects.

At the centre, three research officers of the Semenggok Agricultural Research Centre, namely Johnson Chong gave a briefing on the hydroponic system; Patricia Rachel Rony gave a briefing on the fertigation system; and on how to make compost was presented by Siren Linggang.

Apart from the briefing, Juma’ani as well as the Sabati delegation had the opportunity to visit the exhibition as well as an introductory demonstration on hydroponic systems, fertigation and composting methods.
