KUCHING: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote Sarawak through the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme has been signed between China and Sarawak. The MOU signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian in a hotel in Hangzhuo, China.
Sim said the main purpose was to attract Chinese nationals to the state. “The Chinese nationals, especially retirees, can invest in holiday homes in Sarawak, stay for a while to rest and enjoy our clean and fresh air,” said the Minister.
With Sim were Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) members who were in Shanghai to study the housing programmes, green technologies, smart systems used and related policies.
In Shanghai, Sim had a fruitful meeting with the Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; the Minister and his entourge were briefed on the Shanghai government’s comprehensive housing programme and policies related to affordable housing for its growing population with the involvement of the private developers.
