MIRI: The Miri City Day art competition is offering attractive prizes to winners including a special award and mayor’s challenge trophy.
The competition is jointly organised by Riam Institute of Technology (RiamTec) and Miri City Council.
RiamTec dean Chua Min Fui said the institution has been partnering with MCC and Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd to promote Miri Smart City to residents and visitors.
“The purpose of the competition is to celebrate Miri City Day together with our young Miri residents as well as to increase awareness and instill love for our smart city among the younger generation. Moreover, the competition also provides a platform for students to show their talent and creativity.
“The competition commences May 20 and the closing date is on June 18 while the result will be announced a month later,” he said in a video montage during the virtual launch of the 16th Miri City Day celebration today.
The competition is divided into two sections, namely Primary School section for Primary 5 and 6 pupils and Secondary School section for Form 4 to 6 students.
The competition is based on this year’s Miri City Day theme, ‘Miri – Green, Smart, Most Livable Resort City’.
Chua said the school which sends in the most number of participants will stand a chance to win the special award.
“We urge school principals to allow their students to participate in this competition because it is a good activity to keep the students occupied. It also allows the students to demonstrate their talent and creativity whilst celebrating our city,” Chua said.
