BALINGIAN: Attractive cash prizes and other interesting items await the winners of the Kaul Fishing Safari 2018 to be held on this Sunday morning.
It would be divided into several categories, namely, Ikan Patin, Ikan Keli, Ikan Pacu, Ikan Sultan, Heaviest Fish and Heaviest Mystery Fish.
This Eighth edition of the sporting event is to be staged in conjunction with the annual Melanau ethnic biggest festival, Mukah Kaul 2018.
The winner of each type of fish category would walk away with cash prize of RM1,000, hamper and fishing equipment, while second spot winner gets RM700, hamper and fishing equipment followed by and RM500 cash, hamper and fishing equipment as prizes for the third prize winner.
For the heaviest fish category, the prizes include cash of RM2,000, hamper and fishing equipment, while the heaviest mystery catch category winner will take home RM1,000 cash, hamper and fishing equipment.
To be organised by the alluminium smelting plant, Press Metal Sarawak(PMS) in collaboration with the organising committee of Mukah Kaul Festival, the event will also feature lucky draw with total prizes valued at RM1,000.
The venue of the half-day fishing competition from 7am to 11am will be at PMS Lake ‘Tasik Cinta’ located about 40 kilometres from Mukah Town Centre.
This annual fishing competition which is open to all those aged 18 and above is limited to only 600 participants. Entry fee is RM15 each and entry closes at 6am on the day of fishing contest.
It is learnt that the proceeds or fees collected from the fishing competition will be donated to Mukah Community Based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK Mukah) and Autism Mukah, and RM2 for the badge of each participant.
