THE SECOND meeting of the third term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) was adjourned sine die at 5.25 pm today.

It concluded the eight days of DUN sitting which saw the passing of four bills and one motion from Nov 11 to Nov 20.

Among the bills passed were the Supply (2025) Bill 2024 tabled by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill 2024 presented by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Additionally, the Distribution of Gas (Amendment) Bill 2024 was introduced by Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, and the Natural Resources and Environment Bill 2024 was tabled by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

A motion to amend the Standing Orders of the DUN was moved by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and seconded by Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, who moved the motion of adjournment, highlighted the record-breaking RM15.8 billion budget for 2025.

“This outstanding achievement is a testament of the visionary, innovative, and dedicated leadership of our Premier. It propels Sarawak towards greater prosperity, resilience, and unity, and to become a leading Region in Malaysia.

“The 2025 Budget themed “Together Building a Prosperous Future” is a people- centric and inclusive budget containing various initiatives to benefit the whole strata of the population from children, students, youth, parents and the elderly giving every rakyat equitable access to opportunities and resources to thrive,” he said.
