KUCHING: Coral Geographer, an Australian-operated cruise has called at Kuching port, marking a significant moment in the region’s growing cruise tourism sector.
According to a press release by Sarawak Tourism Board, the ship brought 125 passengers, primarily Australians, along with two lecturers and seven expedition crew members, to experience Sarawak’s vibrant culture and stunning natural attractions.
The guests were treated to a lively cultural reception featuring a traditional garlanding ceremony before embarking on curated shore excursions.
The tours included a Kuching City Tour with visits to the iconic Borneo Cultures Museum and the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, where passengers observed orangutans in their natural habitat.
“Nature enthusiasts explored Kubah National Park, celebrated for its birding opportunities and biodiversity, and ventured to Bako National Park, renowned for its dramatic landscapes and diverse wildlife,” it said.
Coral Geographer had made a stop in Miri on Nov 17, where passengers participated in activities at Miri-Sibuti Reef National Park, diving in its pristine waters, and visits to Lambir Hills National Park and the Unesco-recognised Niah National Park.
The visit was coordinated by GAC and Fortune Shipping, exemplifying Sarawak’s readiness to cater to international cruise tourism.
Coral Geographer is set to return to Kuching on Dec 26.
