KUCHING: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Royal Brunei Airlines hosted a familiarisation trip for nine Australian tour agents to update them on the region’s diverse offers.
This was STB’s initiative to attract more Australian visitors to Sarawak and the eight-day familiarisation trip began in Brunei.
After that, the tour agents were brought to Sarawak ecotourism jewel, namely, Gunung Mulu National Park before continuing their journey to Kuching to explore the city’s various leisure offerings including Semenghoh Wildlife Centre and its tourist accommodations.
STB’s Marketing Director for Europe and Oceania Maurice Balang said the board always looked forward to building marketing partnerships between Sarawak travel agents and Australian partners to enhance Sarawak’s visibility as s premier ecotourism destination to the international market.
“Familiarisation tours play a very important role in providing our Australian partners and tour agents a direct and immersive understanding of Sarawak as a destination.
“This enables them to effectively promote and market this region, especially as we become more actively engaged in Responsible Tourism activities, practices and promotions.
“STB would like to extend its gratitude to the Sarawak tourism industry made up of our tour agents, hotels, restaurants and tourism-related organisations like Sarawak Tourism Federation whose support contributes to the success of our familiarisation tour programmes,” said Maurice in a statement yesterday (Aug 31).
He said Sarawak tourism agents had the opportunity to engage and share their experiences and updates on their exceptional adventure and ecotourism products with the Australian agents during an engagement session organised by STB at local hotels here.
He added the programme served as a testament to the enduring partnership between STB and Royal Brunei Airlines.
It had reinforced their commitment to provide unforgettable experiences for travellers and promoting Sarawak as a preferred destination in Malaysia.
