GEORGE TOWN: The Next Factor of Australia sailed into a class of its own when the team won two titles at the Selangor Raja Muda International Regatta Championship (RMSIR) 2023 yesterday.
The victorious cruise led by skipper Rolf Heemskerk with nine crew members was in the second stage of RMSIR competition from Pulau Pangkor to Penang in 12 hours 40 minutes 24 seconds and also won the Penang Harbour race title.
They are now in a comfortable position in the first place with 5 points to be the overall RMSIR champion followed by Witchcraft in second place (8 points), Uranus in third place (12 points) and Aftershock in last position in class 1 with 15 points.
“It’s a very good and fantastic as we have a really nice race here in Penang. It was exciting from the beginning as we did great as a team and secured two time wins.
“We have won once before in 2019 with the same boat so its fantastic to be back again with a good team doing very well, really enjoyable,” Rolf told Bernama after the prize presentation ceremony.
The eight-day race until Nov 25, is participated by 19 teams in six different classes will continue sailing to Langkawi Island as the final destination today.
The RMSIR tournament was initiated by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah when he was still the Raja Muda of Selangor. – BERNAMA
