KANOWIT: The Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has issued a caution to the residents of Rumah Umban Ranan here, advising vigilance when near landslide-prone areas.
The department’s chief, Arrahman Chik, said that a distress call was received at 8.30 am this morning, which resulted in the deployment of a rescue team to the site.
“Upon their arrival, the team conducted a comprehensive evaluation and confirmed a landslide had transpired, specifically affecting the bathroom area of rooms 13 and 14,” said Arrahman.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the firefighters responded adeptly, concentrating on monitoring the landslide to avert further shifts in the terrain.
“In addition to the on-site efforts, we have recommended that residents remain cautious in the vicinity of the affected zone to ensure their safety,” he added.
Moreover, the residents have been urged to immediately contact the Fire Department in the event of any subsequent landslides.
