KUCHING: The Native Customary Rights (NCR) perimeter survey and Traditional Village perimeter survey programmes are ongoing, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He added that the state government was committed in protecting NCR land and some 300 to 400 traditional villages had been undergone the initiative so far.
He said this during the handover of Kampung Buntal Lama land deeds here today. 155 land deeds were presented to 151 recipients.
“Since 2010, the Land and Survey Department has successfully measured 938,955 hectares (2.431 million acres). From the total, 762,102 hectares or 1.8 million acres have been gazetted.
“As long as there are demands for perimeter survey, this programme will go on. Of course, the people must submit their application to the department.”
Awang Tengah pointed out that perimeter survey work would also be further enhanced given the increase of manpower.
“Perimeter survey work has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic but if the situation improves, we will improve on the survey efforts.
“Moreover, the state government has approved approximately 470 staff, which will help to reinforce survey work.”
Awang Tengah added that the cost for perimeter survey was borne by the state government, illustrating the state government’s commitment in protecting the people’s NCR land.
He reminded the people to pledge their full support to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg as he had brought much development to Sarawak and the people.
Also present were Assistant International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Naroden Majais as well as Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and Kuching North City Commission) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
