Awang Tengah updates members on Darul Hana progress

THE first phase of the Darul Hana Development Project will benefit 318 heads of households (KIR) from Kampung Semarang and Kampung Panglima Sema Lama .

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said 258 have moved to Darul Hana on Oct 31 this year and the remaining 60 are expected to move in the first quarter of 2024.

“For the implementation of the second phase, 253 KIR from Kampung Pulo Ulu will move to Darul Hana in the second quarter of 2024,” he said.

Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Natural Resource and Urban Development said this when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on today (Nov 29).

He added that under the first phase, the government took into account the needs of ‘Ketua Keluarga Tambahan’ (KKT) by providing residential houses in Sungai Bedaun that can house a total of 209 KKT from Kampung Semarang, Kampung Panglima Seman Lama and Kampung Pulo Ulu.

“In addition, the Redevelopment Project of Kampung Datu, Sibu is also being implemented with 251 housing units in Kampung Datu Baru and Kemuyang ready to be offered to 239 KIR from Kampung Datu.

“Part of Kampung Baharu and part of Kampung Hilir, Sibu will move in the second quarter of 2024,” he said.

Awang Tengah said the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan has allocated a ceiling cost of RM601 million to implement 14 extension projects and three new projects under the Urban Renewal Programme.

“This is a continuous initiative of the state government in improving the standard and quality of life of the people in line with Sarawak’s direction of progress by 2030.

“The three new projects approved are Kampung Seberang Kedai Lawas Redevelopment Project, a study for the Bukit Assek Redevelopment Project and one non-physical project which is the Sarawak Urban Development Policy,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state government through the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) will continue the work of providing infrastructure and building other components such as housing, tourist markets, affordable shops and cottage industries according to the scope approved in the 12th Malaysia Plan with a budget implementation cost of RM 207 million.

“In line with the state government’s desire to meet the high demand from the people to buy houses at a reasonable price, LCDA is also actively involved in the construction of affordable houses using the Industrial Building System (IBS) method.

“The IBS factory is a joint venture between LCDA and CTR Technology Sdn. Bhd and will start operating in December 2023 to support the government’s efforts to provide adequate housing for the people of Sarawak,” he said.
