KUCHING: The prestigious 23rd Asian Television Awards (ATA) will boost Sarawak’s position as a good host to world class entertainment stars and popular TV personalities throughout Asia.

According to Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, his ministry had fully supported the staging of this year’s ATA because it provides greater visibility to Sarawak on the world tourism map.

“As you can see, the hosting of this year’s Asian Television Awards in our state is timely simply because we had just launch our ‘Visit Sarawak Campaign 2019 (VSC)’ on January 31 last year,

“VSC is the initiative undertaken by Sarawak state government, my ministry as well as Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) with the primary objective of pushing our local tourism industry to greater heights and to encourage more visitors to come to our beautiful homeland in Borneo,

“The campaign is also to coincide with Sarawak’s efforts to diversify its economy and to push our tourism industry towards the digital transformation.
