KUCHING: The highly anticipated Sarawak State Cultural Arts Awards will be held in October.
This prestigious event is jointly organised by the Department of Culture and Arts, Sarawak (JKKN Sarawak), the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, and the Sarawak Ngoncong Group Association.
The ceremony aims to acknowledge and appreciate the outstanding contributions of cultural and artistic activists who have consistently achieved excellence in the field of art and culture in Sarawak.
“Cultural and artistic activists in Sarawak who meet the award criteria are invited to fill in the nomination form. A total of 11 awards are open for nomination, including the Sarawak Cultural Arts Figure Award, Sarawak Cultural Arts Supporter Award, Kenyalang Opera Award, Kesuma Kenyalang Award, Sri Ritma Kenyalang Award, and Adikarya Award,” said cultural officer and project officer Juhan Junaidi.
The awards also include the Bahaduri Kenyalang Award, Bestari Tradition Award, Art Supporter Award, Sarawak Nilakandi Award, and Sarawak Sri Appreciation Award.
“The ceremony aims to foster the production of competitive and high-quality art works or products in Sarawak while recognising the efforts of cultural and artistic figures.
“The awards will be a platform to produce more Sarawak State Cultural Arts Figures that are recognised for their talent and contributions to the art and cultural scene in the state.”
