SERIAN: An awareness programme was held and a walkabout survey was conducted in the division to encourage the public to register for the Covid-19 vaccination.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said the initiative was held together with the State Information Department (Japen) to raise awareness of the vaccine importance and that individuals should register for inoculation.

John said the feedback from community leaders, especially around the town here, found that most people had not registered for the vaccination programme.

He said only about 50 percent of the estimated 100,000 residents in the division had registered to receive the vaccine.

“For that reason, we held a meeting about conduction a survey programme so that the community would be in full knowledge on how to sign up for this vaccination.

“For example, they can get help to register from community leaders and also can get it done at districts manually or online through MySejahtera application,” he said.

“Besides, for those who cannot register through the application and so on, they can continue to go to health clinics in Tarat, Tebedu, Tebakang including Balai Ringin, Triboh and this series (of clinics),” John told reporters during the survey in the town today. Also present for the survey was Japen Sarawak director Suwadi Guliling.

He said the survey programme, which was held for the first time, was hoped to encourage more people to register for the vaccination programme.

“With the distribution of leaflets and posters to the public, hopefully, they will continue to register themselves,” he said.
