KUCHING: The Department of Skills Development, under the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, has awarded a five-star rating on all programmes offered by the Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR).
Hallman Sabri, executive director of the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills), said that this recognition serves as validation of the institute’s commitment to providing quality and industry-relevant training in automotive and welding programmes.
“We are delighted that AWISAR has been awarded this distinguished five-star rating (Highly Competitive) for our comprehensive skills programs, including Light Vehicle – Repair Service, Light Vehicle – Diagnostic Service, After Sales Service Operation – Motor Vehicle, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Process, and Welding Technology Management,” he said in a statement.
“This recognition is a testament to AWISAR’s significant role in shaping the economic, educational, and digital landscape of our nation. It highlights our dedication to nurturing talents for the present and future workforce,” he added.
The accolade was presented during a ceremony on March 7 at the Japan Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTi) in Penang. Jaidil Yakop, general manager of AWISAR, accepted the award from Datuk Norison Ramli, deputy secretary-general (operation) of the Ministry of Human Resources.
In a related achievement, AWISAR received the Best TVET Training Provider Award (Automotive & Welding) at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards Ceremony in September last year.
