KUCHING: Kuching City FC has officially re-signed Aylton Alemao to a one-year deal to strengthen the central defence of the squad for the upcoming 2023 Malaysia Super League campaign which will kick start on February 24.

He will take over the void left by the new Serbian defender MihailoJovanovic who will be out injured for some time.

“Thank God and Kuching City FC for the trust one more time.

“This will be my third year at this great club,” Alemao confirmed this on his social media on February 14.

Commenting on his short stint with Da Nang FC, Vietnamese club that plays in the top division, V.League 1, Alemao revealed that he was signed to an emergency contract for only two matches.

“I spent a short stint there and played two matches for them as they were short of centre halves due to injury.

“When I received the call from Kuching City FC, on top of the fact that they signed a new centre back, I decided to come back home to Kuching City FC,” Alemao said.

Kuching City FC president Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman also expressed his delight to welcome Alemão back into the squad.

“He is back here to lead our centre defence following the long-term injury that our Serbian defender MihailoJovanovic has suffered.

“He is no stranger to our squad and was one of the main pillars of the locker room headed by our coach Irfan Bakti throughout last season.

“I am extremely confident that his experience and his ability will help to form a strong understanding with his old teammates and the new ones,” Fazzrudin told New Sarawak Tribune and its sister paper Arena Suara Sarawak.
