KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam) is pushing for the revival of volunteerism which it said has been on the decline.
Towards this end it has highlighted the impactful contributions of its Young Souls (AYS) initiative.
“AYS has become a platform where Sarawakian youth are not only participants but also leaders and agents of change, contributing actively to the region’s growth,” said Azam strategic communication manager Hassnal Hakim Junaidi.
He said this while delivering a ketnote address at the recently held Sarawak Urban Forum (SUF) 2024 here.
“Azam’s ‘Movement for Progress’ initiative promotes inclusive growth, and demonstrates its ability to adapt the values of volunteerism in response to globalisation, empowering youth with essential skills in leadership, social entrepreneurship, and urban development,” he said.
This demonstrates Azam’s dedication to nurturing the potential of Sarawak’s younger generation through participatory communication.
According to a press release on Tuesday (Oct 22), the Sarawak Urban Forum 2024 served as an essential platform for discussions on sustainable urbanisation, and Azam’s active participation reflected its pivotal role in shaping the future of both urban and rural development in Sarawak.
“By involving youth in these key discussions, Azam ensures that their voices and ideas are integrated into the broader narrative of development,” it said.
“Azam was honoured to serve as this year’s keynote speaker, reinforcing its position as a leader in youth development and innovation in the region,” it said.
