LUNDU: The Azam Kasihnya Warisan team emerged victorious as the King of Batang Kayan River (Raja Sungai) 2024, dominating the final Men’s 30 Paddlers Bidar race on Batang Kayan River today (July 28).
The team’s triumph netted them a RM12,000 cash prize and the coveted championship trophy.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan presented the prizes at the closing ceremony of the Batang Kayan Festival and Regatta at Lundu Waterfront.
Snowdan said the event acted as a strategic move to boost Lundu’s tourism appeal, pledging continued government support for such annual festivals.
“Our ministry prioritises tourism and culture to drive Sarawak’s economic growth and enhance its global image,” he said.
Snowdan envisioned the festival as a platform for locals, particularly the Lundu community, to showcase their products to a wider audience.
“Handicrafts, agricultural, and marine products can be showcased, highlighting Sarawak’s diversity,” he added.
He urged Lundu and Sematan residents to collaborate for economic growth and improved quality of life.
