KUCHING: The second day of Azam Sarawak’s Protocol, Etiquette, and Event Management Training drew considerable attention with a one-hour interactive session led by Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony, and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) director Datu Hamdan Sharbini.

During the session, participants were given the opportunity to receive direct guidance and discuss challenges faced in organising official events.

The interactive session provided participants with deeper insights into proper protocol implementation and professional event management practices.

Key issues, such as the importance of sensitivity towards varying official protocols based on the level and type of event, were also addressed.

Hamdan emphasised the significance of the training, saying, “This training not only imparts technical knowledge but also allows participants to immerse themselves in the vital practices of protocol and etiquette, ensuring the smooth execution of official events.

“I believe this will positively impact the management of major events in the future.”

He further highlighted that a strong understanding of protocol remains a crucial element that often poses challenges when organising large-scale events.

“Even minor protocol errors can have significant implications on the flow of an event. Hence, such training is essential to ensure every event runs smoothly while respecting the hierarchy and decorum required,” he added.

Azam said the programme not only focuses on event management but also provides Azam Sarawak the opportunity to expand collaborations with state government agencies and the private sector.

Through this training, Azam Sarawak aims to strengthen strategic partnerships with various parties, enhancing its role in supporting Sarawak’s development.

This collaboration is seen as crucial to ensuring the seamless execution of official events throughout the state, further elevating Sarawak’s image at both national and international levels.

“The training programme is part of Azam’s continuous efforts to improve the standards of protocol and event management in Sarawak, thereby enhancing professional competency across various sectors,” the statement added.
