MIRI: The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Malaysia, Irfan Dadudov, paid his respects at the funeral service of the late Senate president Datuk Mutang Tagal, held at BEM Church Canada Hill.
Following the funeral service on Monday (May 13), the remains of the late Mutang was laid to rest at the Golden Memorial Park (Fairy Memorial Park) in Lambir around 2.30pm.
Dadudov expressed profound respect for the late Mutang, recalling their fruitful collaboration.
“I’m here to express our utmost respect to the late Datuk Mutang Tagal,” said Dadudov, highlighting their successful partnership.
He reminisced about their initial meeting in April, where they organised Mutang’s inaugural official visit to Azerbaijan, which proved to be highly productive.
Dadudov also mentioned Mutang’s significant contributions to bilateral relations, including his speech at Azerbaijan’s parliament and his participation in various strategic events.
“I think he contributed very considerably to the development of Azerbaijan-Malaysia bilateral relations,” Dadudov remarked.
He stressed the importance of continuing Mutang’s legacy to further strengthen ties between the two nations.
The late Mutang had returned to Kuala Lumpur from Azerbaijan on May 6 at 1am for further medical treatment after experiencing a health issue during his visit.
He was in Azerbaijan leading the Malaysian delegation since April 29 to the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held from May 1 to 3 in Baku, the Azerbaijani capital.
Prior to the forum, he conducted courtesy visits to the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of the Azerbaijan Republic Council, along with attending various meetings and briefings with industry players, reflecting his commitment to fostering international relations and cultural exchange.
Upon his arrival, the late Mutang was immediately taken to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur to receive medical attention.
