SONG: A two-year-old baby girl was among a family of six who survived a pick-up truck crash at Simpang Empat, Jalan Song-Kapit early this morning (June 30).

Zone 4 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Andy Ali said that firefighters from Song station were dispatched to the scene, about 1km away, after receiving an emergency call at 6.48 am.

Firefighters administer on-site treatment for the injured grandmother at the scene.

“Upon arrival, they found that three victims managed to exit the vehicle on their own and three others were still trapped in the vehicle that overturned to its side.

“Extrication works were promptly performed and the trapped victims were handed over to paramedics for on-site treatment,” he said.

The injured victims consisted of a two-year-old baby girl and her 34-year-old mother, who sustained head injuries while her 55-year-old grandmother sustained a dislocated shoulder.

Andy said that all of the victims were taken to Song health clinic by ambulance for further medical treatment.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 7.30 am.
