KUCHING: Police have extended the remand of Eric Chang’s babysitter and her husband until March 31.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ashmon Bajah confirmed this on Thursday (March 24). “The two suspects are still remanded under Section 302 of the Penal Code.”

They were previously remanded under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 before the case was classified as murder on March 13.

They are being held at the Tabuan Jaya police station lock-up to facilitate investigation.

Four-year-old toddler Eric was reported missing on March 7 by his mother at the Bintawa police station at 7.42pm. He had been missing since 9am that morning.

On March 11, Eric’s parents, the babysitter and her husband were brought in for questioning under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect, abandonment or exposure of children.
