Bakery theft suspect detained

MIRI: A thief was arrested by the police on Tuesday morning two hours after the 39-year-old suspect broke into a bakery in Permyjaya here.

It was understood that the police managed to track down the suspect after they found his wallet at the scene of the crime.

A police patrol car was immediately despatched to the bakery after a call was received on the intrusion around 6.20am on Tuesday.

Prior to the incident, the bakery’s 27- year-old manager and another staff had gone to the premises that morning.

After they opened the bakery’s door, they were shocked to see that many cakes in the bakery were missing.

After the discovery they immediately alerted the police.

During an inspection at the scene a wallet belonging to the suspect was found.

The suspect was picked up at a nearby building around 8.20am the same morning.

Also found were items which were reported missing from the bakery.

The suspect is being detained under by police to facilitate investigation.
