MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi has stressed the importance of trustworthiness for Community and Village Chiefs (KMKK) in carrying out their leadership responsibilities.
This includes resolving disputes related to customary laws and assisting in collecting vital information like birth and death records, to be submitted to the District Office monthly.
Abdul Yakub stressed the need for KMKKs to support local authorities, execute their powers, and fulfil their roles as chairpersons of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in their respective areas.
He made these remarks during the Certificate Appointment Ceremony for the Tellian State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Area at the Conference Hall on Level 1 of Menara Pehin Setia Raja on Monday (Jan 22).
Furthermore, he underlined the crucial role of KMKKs in supporting the government to maintain peace and harmony within communities.
“Consider residents’ welfare, provide assistance when needed, and encourage participation in government-sponsored activities.”
He highlighted collaborative resolution of issues faced by villagers and urged KMKKs to cooperate and maintain unity among themselves.
Acknowledging the diverse ethnicities in the Balingian constituency, he stressed the importance of collaboration and urged the community “not to be influenced by unity issues occurring in the Peninsular.”
