KUCHING: Bukit Aman will decide on the best form of action against the nine police officers who are currently under probe for allegedly extorting a businessman in Gombak, Selangor, said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri.

Newspapers recently reported Selangor deputy police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi as saying that the nine errant personnel were being transferred to Sarawak and Sabah.

Politicians and non-governmental organisations expressed their disappointment and shock over the news.

“We have already referred the matter to Bukit Aman police headquarters. They will decide,” Mohd Azman told reporters at the Sarawak Contingent police headquarters, today.

Azman explained that they had informed the Sarawak government on the status of the police officers, adding that so far, they had not reported for duty in Sarawak yet.

The errant policemen were arrested at Gombak district police headquarters following a police report lodged by a 32-year-old businessman on July 26.

Sasikala had revealed that investigations were being conducted under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
