Christmas is just around the corner, which means that various events are getting into the festive spirit. Cartoonland is one of them.

Cartoonland, a Christmas balloon fair, takes place in Aeroville Mall, Kuching from December 15 to 26, 2022. This Balloon Fair is a joint effort with De Jackie Inspirations in conjunction with the Christmas celebration.

The balloon maze attracts crowds by displaying many different animation series in the mall.

De Jackie Inspirations hand twists various cartoon characters out of balloons to create a Christmas atmosphere. Some of the scenes are based on popular animated characters such as My Little Pony, Cocomelon, Snow White, and others.

The balloon fair’s opening ceremony was attended by Dato Tan Guek Kee, the founder of Lee Onn Development Sdn Bhd; Kapitan Tan Kun Gee, the director of Aeroville Mall Sdn Bhd; and Jackie Tan, the owner of De Jackie Inspirations.

“This event is open to the public since it coincides with Christmas and the end of the year; it is a place for parents to spend quality time with their children during the school holiday,” said Alicia, the manager of Aeroville Mall.

She added that the reason Aeroville Mall organised the balloon fair was to create something unique, but the main reason was to fulfil its corporate social responsibility.

On the first day of the balloon fair, Alicia said that they invited more than 40 special needs children. They have also invited the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) to visit on December 18.

However, the road to organising the balloon fair was not without hurdles. The most challenging part, according to Alicia, is preventing the balloon from being accidently destroyed by children. Because balloons are extremely fragile, they must be carefully protected. Otherwise, De Jackie Inspiration’s workload in doing the fixing will increase.

Nevertheless, this creative balloon fair drew a large number of parents and children. They had a great time and were quite excited about the balloon maze.

Sandra Chai brought her two lovely daughters to Cartoonland and snapped a few photos to remember them by.

“This balloon fair caught my eye on social media, and I think it’s incredible. It’s unusual to see cartoon characters and sceneries built out of balloons rather than doll models,” said Sandra.

This one-of-a-kind balloon fair can help people experience the Christmas spirit and strengthen parent-child relationships.

Sandra strongly agreed that this balloon fair is meaningful and that she will bring her children to a similar event in the future. She wishes to see more of these childlike and unique balloon fairs in Sarawak, which will help people feel the Christmas spirit and strengthen the bond between parents and children.
